I admire the fact that you're an art teacher so much! I have always wanted to be a teacher ever since I was a little girl, but I'm not so sure anymore. I was hoping you could share some pros and cons? :) thanks so much xx (and you have the cutest students ever!)

Thanks love! I’ve never really thought about it like that so this might be enjoyable:

Pros:

  • Awesome cute kiddo moments
  • Being able to connect with young people emotionally (so fulfilling)
  • Watching their little brains work when they learn something new
  • Seeing how they solve problems totally differently than you (especially with art)

Cons:

  • You can NEVER SLACK AT WORK OR EVERYTHING FALLS APART
  • If you’re tired, too bad
  • Bad classroom energy (when everyone’s tired or cranky it fucking ruins everything)
  • When your lessons don’t quite work out (too advanced usually) and you were planning on building around them
  • Chronic behavioral issues—and the awful attitude other teachers have about them!
  • Watching students’ environmental problems (poverty, neglect) totally destroy them (I teach and live in the ghetto and I’m thinking of two students in particular)
